About

Karen Rio Salado

I followed in my father and grandfather’s footsteps and started my career at CBS Television. Dad was the head of Special Effects and Grandpa was a stage hand. I held positions including Audience Research Manager and Account Executive at WCAU-TV, Philadelphia in addition to previously working for CBS Records and CBS Publishing in New York.

As a co-owner, I helped grow Emmy-award winning SMASH Advertising Inc., a national boutique agency from the ground floor up. With increasing responsibilities I was promoted to VP/Director of Sales. I was grateful to learn all aspects of business including marketing, publicity, PR and sales. Clients included high-level executives at CBS, NBC, Turner Broadcasting, and Buena Vista Television. Sales grew from $100,000 a year to $3,800,000 during my tenure. I later studied theology and after graduating from Vineyard Leadership Institute was named an Associate Pastor at Vineyard Church overseeing community outreach.

I started New Destiny Marketing, LLC to offer freelance PR and Marketing to business owners on a flexible and part-time basis. One of my specialties is helping clients communicate with existing customers through well-thought out and consistent e Newsletters and email blasts to encourage additional sales and new business referrals.

I enjoy building and optimizing (so you can be found) business profiles on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook that generate traffic, ghost writing on behalf of my clients to maintain and grow their social media profiles and blogs, and teaching social media “how-to” classes on a one-on-one basis.

My tenure as an Associate Pastor is beneficial to my understanding and passion for a well-executed cause marketing campaign which positively promotes a business to the community. In 2013 I helped a client create and facilitate the launch of Object to Hunger on behalf of St. Mary’s Food Bank. The Phoenix law community generously donated over 92,000 meals to the hungry and the client received terrific PR and new business opportunities.  I also help clients create small scale events to generate publicity and new business.

Recently I launched Second Chance Celebrations as a way to give back and as a celebration of hope. I only work with people who operate their business with integrity and thankfully work all over the US and Internationally with English speaking entrepreneurs.
